A widow's peak is inherited autosomal-dominantly, which is to say genetically.
The allele for a pointed hairline dominates the allele for a straight one. Things are the way nature made them. The question is what you do with it. In the end a widow's peak is nothing like the situation of someone losing all the hair on their head to hair loss. So work with it and get everything out of it that is there to get.
Conditions Above the Forehead That Can Be Linked to a Widow's Peak
Normally a widow's peak is a completely ordinary genetic trait, in the same category as red hair or attached earlobes.
That said, a number of very rare hereditary conditions are associated with a pointed hairline.

- The recessive form of Faciogenitodigital syndrome (mostly X-linked)
- The Opitz BBB/G syndrome (autosomal dominant and X-linked recessive)
- The Widow's peak syndrome (X-linked dominant)
