The Gzuz Haircut - What Your Barber Needs to Do for the 187 Straßenbande Look

Bonez MC, Gzuz or Maxwell. 187 Straßenbande, the Hamburg rap crew, are everywhere right now and the German hip hop charts are unthinkable without them. The hype around these guys seems endless. Since their hit "Ohne mein Team" at the latest, even the party circuit can't dodge German rap any more. What a lot of fans find particularly interesting are the haircuts worn by the 187 Straßenbande crew. So today's Charlemagne Premium blog post gets into the Gzuz haircut and takes a closer look at his cut. Enjoy the read.

So what exactly is 187 Straßenbande

187 Straßenbande is a crew from the German gangster rap scene. Based mainly in Hamburg, the main characters on the rap side are Gzuz, Bonez MC, Maxwell, LX and Sa4, along with the graffiti writers Frost and Track. Production comes from the well-known producer Jambeatz.

What's the story behind the Gzuz haircut

The Gzuz haircut is a modified boxer cut. In the trade it's actually called a flat top. The name says it: flat on top, meaning the hair on the crown. It's a big favourite in hip hop in particular.

The hair at the sides and the back gets clipped right down, while the remaining hair forms a surface that rises from back to front and upwards from the sides, the "flat".

The transition in length between the top and the sides is what decides how the Gzuz haircut ends up looking.
On Gzuz there's a proper taper cut between the sides and the top, and that's what defines this version of the boxer cut.

Styling the Gzuz haircut

Styling the boxer cut is simple. The classic boxer cut is made into what it is by the cut itself. That's true for Gzuz too, because he wears a cut that needs no pomade or any other product at all. While we're here, we'd encourage you to feel your way towards your own individual look. Even if you want the Gzuz haircut, you aren't Gzuz. Head shape, colour and hair growth are all definitely different between the two of you.

How does my barber pull off this Gzuz haircut

Simple: print out a photo of the Gzuz haircut and take it with you to your appointment. Fine, let's explain that a bit. As mentioned, the Gzuz haircut is a modified boxer cut, and the boxer cut turns up in plenty of variations. Even the best description usually says less than a single picture. A picture is worth a thousand words and all that. So as we said, just print out the version of the Gzuz haircut that suits you and show it to your barber. As a professional he'll know immediately what to do and get on with it.

As barbers with more than 20 years in the trade between us, we went looking for styling & care products that convinced us 100%. There were some good products on the market, but none that really gave us everything we needed. After some thought we decided in 2014 to develop our own range. For two years we used every free minute after work at the barbershop to refine the formulations down in our cellar. When it came to ingredients, only the best was good enough for us. We bought the finest jojoba oils available in Morocco, and argan oil from Italy.

After two years and a good many attempts our first product line was ready, and it has been winning our customers over ever since. We think 98% positive reviews speak for themselves. Since the official launch in 2016 it has of course been developed further, continuously. That is one of the reasons Charlemagne Premium products have won not one but several comparison tests in recent years.

You will find all our products right here in our online store. For any questions about them, you can reach us any time at info@charlemagne-premium.com.
