The Paul Pogba Haircut: Five Things That Stand Out

Football is full of creative haircuts. David Beckham got there first, and his "Player Style" laid the groundwork for unusual cuts reaching a mass audience and for trends that shaped whole demographics.

French footballer Paul Labile Pogba works much the same way, changing styles about as often as other people change their underwear. But which Pogba haircut is the man actually wearing, and what is it about them that keeps drawing attention? Those questions are exactly why we reckoned the subject was worth a blog post. So today on the Charlemagne Premium blog we'll go through it and take a proper look at the Pogba cut. Enjoy the read.

So who on earth is Paul Pogba

Paul Labile Pogba is a French footballer. Born on 15 March 1993, he has been under contract at Manchester United since August 2016. His transfer to the club made football history at the time as the most expensive ever.

So he currently plays in the English Premier League. That's the top division in English football and therefore the highest tier of the English league system, with 20 clubs currently competing in a season that runs from August to May of the following year.

In 2018 Pogba also added a World Cup winner's medal to his career, as part of the French national side.

The constantly changing Pogba haircuts, a quick tour of the highlights

Still only fifteen, Pogba was already developing in the Manchester United youth side into one of the most sought after young players in Europe. Back then his hair in particular was still very understated. Nice lad who likes playing football, essentially. Times change.

2016, very much a year defined by Pogba's hair

The footballer, whose family comes from Guinea, caused a stir with a wild leopard print shaved into his hair. The Pogba cut pulls the eye once again.

Shortly afterwards a new style was on show.

"Dabbing" is the thing in 2016

Whether it was basketball superstar LeBron, Jesse Lingard or Cam Newton, the "dab pose" was the trend of the season. The biggest fan of the move was probably Pogba, who duly had "DAB" cut into his own hair. More trendsetting, and barely a step behind the Pokéball he wore the same year, at the height of the mobile game "Pokémon Go".

Along with a striped mohawk, that is, partly bleached hair, those were probably the man's most attention-grabbing looks. As you can tell, Pogba likes his hair colourful.

The Paul Pogba haircut as ambassador against racism in 2017

August 2017. A new style put Pogba's hair in the headlines again, and this time at the exact moment the trendsetter was named an ambassador against racism.

He had white and red stripes coloured into the sides. More interesting still was the back of his head.

He had the hashtag #equal shaved into the hair on top. And so the world's second most expensive player, now also the face of the UEFA "Equal Game" campaign against racism in football, was born.

As you can see, the Paul Pogba haircut isn't one thing you can pin down. It's a constant state of change, and as a fan trying to keep up you're always a step behind. As barbers with more than 20 years in the trade between us, we went looking for styling and care products that convinced us completely. There were some good products out there, but none that gave us everything we needed. After some thought, in 2014 we decided to develop our own range. For two years we spent every free minute after work at the barbershop down in our cellar, refining the formulas. When it came to ingredients, only the best was good enough. We bought the finest jojoba oils available in Morocco, and argan oil from Italy.

After two years and a good many attempts, our first product line was ready, and it has been winning our customers over ever since. We think 98% positive reviews speak for themselves. Since the official launch in 2016 we've kept developing it, of course. That's one of the reasons Charlemagne Premium products have won not just one but several comparison tests in recent years.

You'll find all our products right here in our online store. For any questions about them, you can reach us any time at info@charlemagne-premium.com.
