Aubameyang's Haircuts and the Trends He Sets

Football, a sport that grips the whole world. Some love it, others simply cannot find a way in. Even so, there is hardly another sport with as much pull on people as the one where two teams try to kick a ball past a keeper into the net. And time and again the stars get noticed for how they look. Haircut trends are nothing unusual there. So in today's Charlemagne Premium blog we are looking at Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and above all at the most talked about of his haircuts.

Footballers and Their Trends

One of the first real trendsetters in the game was David Beckham. His mohawk grown over a taper fade, which he let grow out and inevitably ended up tying back into a small ponytail, launched what people called the "player style" of roughly 2000 to 2005. Since then at the latest, trendsetting has had a firm place in football. Let us be honest about it. German striker Rudi Völler's perm and mullet at the World Cups of the early 90s got more smirks than applause at the time. Today that kind of styling, like Aubameyang's, is in more demand than ever.

Aubameyang, a Personality With Global Reach

At the start of his career, and we are not only talking about the famous haircuts that came with it, he played professionally for AC Milan until 2011. Various stages of his life led him to BVB, Borussia Dortmund, where he played plenty of games against the likes of Bayer Leverkusen. In 2018 he moved to Arsenal in England, to give only a short sketch of a career that also took in the Champions League.

World-Class Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Haircut

Aubameyang is known for his extrovert look and the haircuts that go with it, or rather the many haircuts. His clothes are worth a mention too. More on that later. He does not see himself as the loud, flamboyant character people read him as. The moment he draws the most attention is his goal celebration, usually a front somersault.

The Extrovert Side

His style is not built on the haircut alone. His personal sponsor Nike kits him out head to toe in good sportswear. Unlike rivals wearing Puma or Adidas, that puts him on the right side of a brand that has been a trend fixture for decades. For now, at any rate. Nor is there any sign of that trend fading.

The Aubameyang Haircut That Got the Most Attention

The former Dortmund player paid tribute to his grandmother by having her name dyed into his hair. A week after her death, Auba, as he likes to be called, went into the next match with the name "Marina" cut and coloured into his hair.

He wrote on Instagram: "One last smile from you, which showed you were the most beautiful. One last trip to your village, I was happy to be there with you. You gave me so much love, you taught me so much. Because of you I speak Spanish. I am proud to be your little son. One last kiss to say goodbye. A big kiss, I love you Grandma. RIP"

"I had my grandmother's name dyed into my hair," the striker explained. "She died last week. This is how I remember her."

As you have read, a player widely seen as an extrovert has no problem colouring his hair and would happily do it again. Not exactly the current trend, but a fashion statement of a haircut all the same. Style, by the way, is not tied to any particular moment. If you are after timeless looks for your hair and your beard, and Aubameyang keeps his face clean shaven, we can only point you at the Charlemagne Premium shop, because:

„A healthy and well groomed beard is important for a real man, that's why we offer everything you need to keep yours doing so.“

As barbers with more than 20 years in the trade between us, we went looking for styling and care products that convinced us completely. There were some good products out there, but none that gave us everything we needed. After some thought, in 2014 we decided to develop our own range. For two years we spent every free minute after work at the barbershop down in our cellar, refining the formulas. When it came to ingredients, only the best was good enough. We bought the finest jojoba oils available in Morocco, and argan oil from Italy.

After two years and a good many attempts, our first product line was ready, and it has been winning our customers over ever since – we think 98% positive reviews speak for themselves. Since the official launch in 2016 we have kept developing it, of course. That is one of the reasons Charlemagne Premium products have won not just one but several comparison tests in recent years.

You will find all our products right here in our online store. For any questions about them, you can reach us any time at info@charlemagne-premium.com.
