Beard Care Tips, All in One Place –
Who Would Have Thought
Today on the blog, in among the beard care, shaving and hair care, we are taking on beard grooming in general and the tips that go with it.
Once you have grown it out, a good beard asks for attention. After all that time waiting for the hair to come in, you want to keep treating the beard you have nurtured for months the way it deserves. Even if that means taking the odd tip from someone else and putting in the hours.
Shaving, hair care, pretty much every grooming routine the modern man goes through these days takes time. It is an investment in how you look, and one women tend to appreciate. So you already know why you are happy to spend it.
A beard care set in particular leaves a man well equipped for the daily craft of working on his facial hair. Even so, the question comes up again and again: what do I need to watch out for, and which bits of kit actually count as the basics?
The beard care tips below lay the foundation for proper beard grooming, and we will run through them one section at a time.
The Daily Wash
The first entry in our beard care tips is the daily wash.
Whether that is in the shower in the morning or a quick going over at the sink during the day, the point of it stays the same.
Over the course of a day your beard picks up more and more grime, from food or dust for instance. That needs to come out sooner or later, and without you damaging the hair in the process.
The whole point of beard grooming is, in the end, beard care. Tips on washing are of course all over our blog. In short: wash your beard regularly with a dedicated beard shampoo. It lifts out dirt gently, without damaging your beard hair or, worst case, drying it out. Regular hair shampoo, remember, is built to strip oils out of the hair on your head (no beard care tip from us at this point, just an important fact of life).
Right then. In a beard, those natural oils are not in the wrong place at all as far as skin and hair are concerned, and they keep your beard hair healthy. Using a dedicated beard shampoo means you can be sure your facial hair does not take a hit from a clean it needed anyway. Which brings us neatly to the next of our beard care tips. Beard oil.
Good Old Reliable Beard Oil
Beard oil counts as a classic among beard care tips by now. The selected natural substances that go into the blend give it serious conditioning properties. Those work not just on your beard hair but on the skin underneath it as well. And the scent, built from the essential oils chosen for each product, is a pleasure right under your nose and does no harm at all in more intimate moments. One of the great beard care tips, full stop.
Beard oil also softens the hair, more so than most other beard care products on the market, and gives your beard a silky matt shine that simply makes the hair look healthy. You will find a good selection of beard oils in the Charlemagne Premium shop, naturally. If you want to go deeper into what is a fairly broad subject, this blog post is worth your time.
On to the next candidate in the beard care tips line-up. Good old moustache wax.

Moustache wax, holds in any weather
Moustache wax is the cure-all for getting your beard into shape when the styling gets ambitious. A curled moustache in particular can be stubborn if it is not given the right material to hold a shape. Bavarian or Hungarian style wax, it makes no real difference. For a proper description of this product, have a browse through this link. Moustache wax sets far harder than beard balm, which is the subject of the next of our beard care tips.
Beard balm, for relaxed styling
Beard balm is mainly there to bring your facial hair into shape. Unlike the wax described above, it has the advantage of not setting nearly as hard. Where moustache wax comes out for the more demanding styles, balm does a different job among the beard care tips. It is ideal for straightforward shaping, of a full beard for example. Beard balm is also built mostly from fats. Petroleum jelly, to name one. That fat is what puts the moisture into your beard hair and keeps it from drying out. Along with it comes the same silky matt shine, which reads as fresh and well kept to anyone looking at you.
Having covered those three beard care products, we move on to the next beard care tips. This time it is the tools the job actually requires.
The beard brush, grooming made easy
The beard brush is a basic tool in any beard care kit. It is not just for the daily brush through that puts your beard back in shape after your morning shower. Used at other times of day it also clears out whatever has settled in there, the dust mentioned earlier or bits of food. On top of that, thanks to how tightly the bristles sit together, whatever they are made from, a beard brush works the products you have applied all the way down into the pores. That matters, because beard care products do not only serve the hair, they do good work on the facial skin underneath it too. Using one helps you head off dryness and other irritation and gives your face the best of it. Speaking of the best, that leads us to the next of our beard care tips. The beard comb!
The beard comb, for quick grooming on the move
A beard that has been grown out especially needs putting back into its styled shape now and then. For a quick tidy-up in between, the beard comb is the tool for it, thanks to how compact and flat it is. It is also ideal for beard care while travelling, since it hides away in even the smallest piece of hand luggage or a trouser pocket without taking up any space. Usually made from plastic or from the wood so often used for beard care tools, a beard comb looks good in its own right and adds something to any man carrying one. A clear must-have. You will find a fine wooden example in the Charlemagne Premium shop, which takes us straight to the last of our beard care tips. The straight razor.
The Straight Razor.
The straight razor is the tool for taking hair down flush to the skin, and above all for shaving your beard lines in. It makes no difference whether the style in question is the ever popular three day stubble or a full Kaiser Wilhelm with a curled moustache. Looking after a beard means properly shaved lines, no way around it. Only that kind of grooming makes your beard stand out the way it should. Straight razors are made either with replaceable blades or a single piece of metal, usually stainless steel. Each design brings its own advantages, which you can follow up in our blog of course. Beyond the range of natural and synthetic materials that tend to make up the handles, it has to be said plainly that shaving with a straight razor is a proper man's business. It takes a bit of practice to handle, but from our team it gets a clear GO every time.

With the beard care tips above you are equipped to give your beard the attention it needs. To get further into any one subject, take a look at the linked blog posts. They go into detail on the individual products and tools, so you are not left standing out in the rain.
By the way, you may well have already sent one or two of these posts to your friends by email. Your mates will get something out of beard care tips as well, assuming they are carrying a beard. The products mentioned here are, as always, in the Charlemagne Premium shop. Let Charlemagne win you over.
„A healthy and well groomed beard is important for a real man, that's why we offer everything you need to keep yours doing so.“
As barbers with more than 20 years in the trade between us, we went looking for styling and care products that convinced us completely. There were some good products out there, but none that gave us everything we needed. After some thought, in 2014 we decided to develop our own range. For two years we spent every free minute after work at the barbershop down in our cellar, refining the formulas. When it came to ingredients, only the best was good enough. We bought the finest jojoba oils available in Morocco, and argan oil from Italy.
After two years and a good many attempts, our first product line was ready, and it has been winning our customers over ever since – we think 98% positive reviews speak for themselves. Since the official launch in 2016 we have kept developing it, of course. That is one of the reasons Charlemagne Premium products have won not just one but several comparison tests in recent years.
You will find all our products right here in our online store. For any questions about them, you can reach us any time at info@charlemagne-premium.com.
